dc.description.abstract	In India it is planned to develop all small and big cities as smart cities. For which proper planning of surface transport system is a primary requirement. Modern technology is to be adopted for connecting internal roads and for designing and construction of national and express highways. Geographic Information System (GIS) can be used in better transportation planning of any city or country. Nowadays, for viewing and manipulating spatially-oriented data for proper traffic management GIS is frequently used. This review demonstrates the use of GIS technology in the network analysis of road transport system.	en_US
