Objective : Evaluation of Anti-arthritis activity of Tamarix gallica using rats
Procedure: Arthritis induced by a single injection (0.1 ml) of Complete Freund’s
adjuvant (CFA) into sub plantar region of left hind paw of rats. Six groups were taken &
six animals were taken in each groups. From 1st day to 21st day group 3(standard)
received prednisolone 10mg/kg& group 4, 5, 6 (test) received methanolic ext. of
T.gallica 100mg/kg, 200mg/kg, 300mg/kg respectively. Paw volume & body wt. were
measured periodically. On 22nd day blood was collected by retro orbital vein puncture
and haematological & serological parameters were analysed.
Result & Discussion: Methanolic ext. of Tamarix gallica showed significantly increased
in RBC, HB, Body wt. and decreased in Paw vol., WBC, ESR, C-RP, Alkaline
phosphatase, Rheumatoid Factor
Conclusio: Methanolic ext. of T.gallica showed significantly anti arthritic activity which
is associated with anti-inflammtory, anti-nociceptive & antioxidant property. |
