Abstract:
The present investigation is portrays the phytochemical test and antibacterial movement of Pongamia pinnata.
P. pinnata is generally called as "Karanj". P. pinnata is belongs to the family of ‘Fabaceae'. P. pinnata has
been used in the treatment of bronchitis, challenging hack, rheumatic joints and quench dipsia in diabetes.
Phytochemical screening of the aqueous and ethanolic extracts of the leaves revealed the presence of alkaloids,
carbohydrates, reducing sugars etc. In the present investigation of the aqueous and methanol concentrates of the
leaves of p. pinnata were studied for their antibacterial activity by agar well dispersion technique against three
microorganisms. The utilization of plant extract with known antimicrobial properties can be of importance for
treatment.
