<link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/9821</link>
<description>Evaluation Of Effect Of Amalaki Churna (Emblica Officinalis Gaertn.) As Rasayana And Its Free Radicals Scavenging Activity In Healthy Individuals
Banne, Satej
Objectives: To screen comparative study of Amalaki churna (Emblica officinalis Gaertn.) as&#13;
Rasayana in three different Oushadha Sevan Kala as Kinchit Suryodayajate (Sunrise),&#13;
Divas bhojane (Midday meal) and Nishi (Night meal), and Regular food is&#13;
given to Control group.&#13;
Methodology:  1. A total of 100 healthy individual were selected and divided into 4 groups.&#13;
a) Group 1; Amalaki churna was given for 30 days during (Kinchit&#13;
Suryodayajate) during sunrise process time (06:00 a.m.)&#13;
b) Group 2: Amalaki churna was given for 30 days at Midday meal time&#13;
(12:00 pm)&#13;
c) Group 3: Amalaki churna was given for 30 days at Night time (08:00&#13;
p.m.)&#13;
d) Control group 4: Regular food was given for 30 days&#13;
e) Strict time schedule was maintained throughout the procedure. Blood samples (nearly about 10 ml of each healthy individual) of all 100 subjects were taken in unbreakable non- vacuum blood collection tubes before&#13;
starting the study and collected blood samples were transferred to&#13;
centrifuge machine for centrifugation. After 5 minutes of centrifugation&#13;
serum was collected at top (approximately about 5 ml) of the tubes, then&#13;
serum was preserved in deep freezer at -800 C at Lyka Labs Limited,&#13;
Manufacturers of Pharmaceuticals, 4801/B, 4802/A, G.I.D.C. Industrial&#13;
Estate, Ankleshwar-393002, Dist. Bharuch, Gujarat, India. Then from next&#13;
day administration of Amalaki churna (Emblica officinalis Gaertn.) was&#13;
started for period of 30 days. After completion of 30 days again blood&#13;
samples were collected in unbreakable non-vaccume tubes transferred it to&#13;
centrifuge machine, collect the serum. Next to that readings were taken.&#13;
2. Rasayana study carried out as per Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and Catalase&#13;
(CAT) on Healthy individuals using Amalaki Churna at dose of 3 grams O.D.&#13;
respectively and findings were analyzed by using one way ANOVA, tukeys&#13;
multiple posthoc procedure and dependent ‘t’ test&#13;
Page III&#13;
Abstract&#13;
Results:  1) The serum SOD levels were significantly decreased in group 1 (8.09 units/ml.)&#13;
as compared to control (14.37 units/ml.), group 2 (9.74 units/ml.) and group 3&#13;
(9.77 units/ml.) respectively.&#13;
Conclusions: Evaluation of Oushadha Sevan Kala i.e. time of administration of medicine was&#13;
the main objective of the study which comes back with highly significant results,&#13;
on the basis of Oushadha Sevan Kala. Amalaki boost weakened antioxidant&#13;
defenses in Kinchit suryodayajate kala (morning time of administration)&#13;
Medicine given at the appropriate time will be conducive for the better treatment.&#13;
The Bheshaja Sevana Kala (time of administration of medicine) is mainly&#13;
governed by dominance of particular dosha which is responsible for biological&#13;
rhythms and is targeted for the treatment. The drug optimization can be achieved&#13;
by administering the medicine in an appropriate time. For management of&#13;
Rasayana Karma the ideal Bheshaja Sevana Kala is Kinchita suryodayajate as per&#13;
clinical and experimental evidence. Bheshaja Sevana Kala is having its own scope&#13;
and application in the management of diseases. By incorporating proper Bheshaja&#13;
Sevana Kala one can enhance the bioavailability, target the disease site and relieve&#13;
symptoms.

<link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/9819</link>
<description>A Randomized Controlled Trial On Shivagutika In The Management Of Primary Hypothyroidism
Thakkar, Nikunj
Background: Hypothyroidism is a disorder of the endocrine gland in which the Thyroid gland do not produce enough T3 and T4 hormones which cause number of symptoms such as feeling of tiredness, constipation, depression, and weight gain. It is a clinical syndrome in that no satisfactory treatment is available in modern science even if better control of Thyroid hormones through modern treatment. The term Hypothyroidism is not mentioned in the classical literature. But the features nearest to Hypothyroidism are described. Ayurved believes, it is due to hypo – functioning of Agni and imbalance of Tridosha. Ayurvedic management was adopted to treat Hypothyroidism by correcting Agni and Tridosha in the body&#13;
Methods and Materials: 75 eligible known case of Primary Hypothyroidism patients were selected and divided into 2 groups by following computer generated randomization technique. Trial group patients were advised to take Shivagutika and Controlled group patients were advised to continue the modern medication (Levothyroxine) for 90 days respectively.&#13;
Results: Statistically significant improvement was observed on ThyPRO39 subjective parameters in Trial group .The results on Objective parameters T3, T4 and TSH were statistically insignificant in Trial group. In control group, statistically significant improvement was observed on ThyPRO39 subjective parameters and Serum T3 level (Objective parameters). The results on other Objective parameters T4 and TSH were statistically insignificant in Control group.&#13;
On comparison of results between the groups, Trial group was more effective than Control group on ThyPRO39 subjective parameters. Trial group was found more effective in increasing Serum T4, while Control group was found more effective in increasing Serum T3 and decreasing Serum TSH level.&#13;
Conclusion: Shivagutika was more effective on the symptoms mentioned in ThyPRO39 subjective parameters and helps to increase the serum T4 level as compared to Control group. Control group (levothyroxine) was found more effective in increasing the serum T3 and decreasing the serum TSH level.
