<title>Inventory Policies for Price-Sensitive Stock-Dependent Demand and Quantity Discounts</title>

<description>Inventory Policies for Price-Sensitive Stock-Dependent Demand and Quantity Discounts
Shah, Nita H.; Naik, Monika K.
It was usually observed in typical EOQ inventory models that the holding cost, the purchasing cost and the demand rate are constant and the purchasing cost is irrespective of the order size. But practically, the demand rate is based on various factors including sale price, seasonality and availability. Due to the lengthening of shortage periods, the holding cost per unit item increases. Also with the inclusion of quantity discounts, the unit purchasing cost is usually decreased for higher order sizes. This article addresses jointly with the inconsistency of the rate of demand, unit purchasing cost and unit holding cost for deteriorating items. This paper proposes a model based on an inventory problem including selling price of products and stock-dependent market demand rate, holding cost based on storage time and purchasing cost is influenced by order size by offering all units quantity discounts. An algorithm for estimating the optimum solution of decision variables by maximizing total profit and minimizing the overall cost of the model is developed in this paper. Validation of the developed model is confirmed with the help of a numerical example along with the sensitivity-analysis of decision variables by varying various inventory parameters.

<description>Regulation on Herbal Product Used As Medicine around the World: A Review
Giri, Rudra Prasad; Gangawane, Ajit K; Giri, Sucheta Ghorai
Globally, regulation over herbal products implemented under different classifications, some of which are: Complimentary medicines, Natural health products, Prescription medicines, over the counter medicines, Supplements, Traditional herbal medicines, etc. Around the world maximum countries have already developed or developing their plan of work in regulation of herbal market. Herbs are the thing which varies drastically from region to region. However it was believed herbal medicines are completely safe but as per WHO all herbs are not at safe, providing their citizen the best product is the responsibility of every government. Vigilance over herbal product is highly required in current scenario. The regulatory requirements of these vary considerably. While prescription medicines are strictly regulated, the extent of control on supplements is relatively low. A review of the regulatory status of the herbal medicines across the globe is given in the present article.

<title>MXD% as a New Hope of Diagnosis of Cancer: A Review</title>

<description>MXD% as a New Hope of Diagnosis of Cancer: A Review
Giri, Rudra Prasad; Giri, Sucheta Ghorai
Systemic inflammation and immune responses are reported to be associated with several types of cancer. Here we have reviewed the scope of diagnosis of cancer MXD% which is a part of hematological laboratory test. Among the fractions of WBCs (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, basophils, and eosinophil) significance NLR and PLR is known but MXD % can also be considered as a biomarker for cancer diagnosis. Several time our laboratory values are neglected but co relating such data with other parameters might help a lot in diagnosis of cancer or other disease. White blood cells are known to be body’s first line of defense increase or decrease of certain parameters can help early diagnosis and define a path for further action. Prognostic variables of clinical results in patients with malignancy are a valuable device in the act of drug, particularly in the fields of oncology. In this manner, accessibility of an all-inclusive prognostic factor will help to simplify medical care of malignancy patients. There is ample evidence suggesting that outcome in cancer patients is greatly affected by immune response and pre-treatment measure of inflammatory immune response can be used to independently predict survival of cancer patients. Total and differential WBC count is one of the most easily accessible markers of inflammation and many recent studies in cancers provide evidence that there is an interconnection between pre-treatment WBC counts and overall (OS) and disease free cancer survival (DFS).

<title>Production of Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) using Synthetic Biology and Metabolic Engineering Approaches</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/7611</link>
<description>Production of Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) using Synthetic Biology and Metabolic Engineering Approaches
Rayasam, Vijay; Kumar, Tarika
Polyhydroxyalkanoates are polyesters that are biological in origin and are produced by micro-organisms through fermentation processes. Researchers have been attracted towards applications of these polyester compounds as an alternative to plastics as they are biodegradable, renewable, biocompatible and eco-friendly. However, presently these polymers have limitations because of lower rate of microbial production and high production cost. Production steps like the selection and improvement of strains, media development, downstream processing are being intensively researched in order to improve the overall process efficiency and finally to substitute the mainstream polymers with that of biodegradable polymers. This review article provides an insight into PHA biosynthesis, microbial strains that produce PHA, use of novel methods such as synthetic biology or morphology engineering to design new pathways in microorganisms and also use of plants by altering their metabolic pathways in a way to produce biopolymers.
