<title>Application of shodhana (Bio-purification) in Chronic Sheetapitta (Dhatwantara gata / Leena Avastha) with special reference to Urticaria</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/7931</link>
<description>Application of shodhana (Bio-purification) in Chronic Sheetapitta (Dhatwantara gata / Leena Avastha) with special reference to Urticaria
Deva, Sachin
Shodhana (Bio-Purification) is a procedure which helps in expelling out the excessively aggrevated doshas&#13;
from the shareera (Body). One of the most alluring concepts in the modulation of disease is leenadosha (Adhered/&#13;
Concealed). Technically leena (Adhered) term suggests to Conceal even Merge. Here the doshas will be attached or&#13;
concealed to the dhatus. So we can frame the quality of leena dosha as ekadeshasthita/anutva (Minute) and also&#13;
dhatvantaragata (Adhered to Dhatus). In the disease sheetapitta (Urticaria) sheetamaaruta exposure acts as a prime&#13;
nidana (Cause) in vitiating vata predominantly along with other doshas like pitta and kapha leading to skin&#13;
manifestations in bahya twacha (External skin) and other systemic symptoms in abyantara shareera (Within the&#13;
body). Eventhough the disease sheetapitta (Urticaria) has vatadhika dosha lakshanas kandu (Pruritis) and daha&#13;
(Burning sensation) will also be associated in many cases. By neglecting this particular diseases considering its&#13;
lakshanas and severity after a time period dosha becomes leena within the dhatus and later becomes difficult to treat.&#13;
Classics clearly mentioned that leena dosha (Adhered) cant be eliminated through shodhana (Bio-Purification)&#13;
without prior deepana pachana (Stomacic &amp; digestive), snehana (Oleation) and swedana (Sudation) i. e bringing&#13;
back the vitiated doshas from shaka (Extremities) to kosta (Abdomen). So saama dosha adhered or concealed in&#13;
diseases are understood as in leena state. This particular understanding facilitates further intervention which will be&#13;
discussed in full paper.

<title>The Role Of Chaturvidha Chikitsa In Arbuda (Cancer)</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/7895</link>
<description>The Role Of Chaturvidha Chikitsa In Arbuda (Cancer)
Mathad, Prasanna; Anigol, Anagha; Chitree, Rajashree
Abruda means the one which causes hurt or kills and adheres like crab. In the charaka samhita sutra&#13;
sthana 18th chapter,trishothiya adhyaya, quoted as ‘vikara nam akushalo na jignat kadachana ,nahi sarva&#13;
vikaranam namato asthi druva sthithaha’1 means all discomforts of the body are itself diseases, which are not&#13;
always identified with name, but can be diagnosed and treated depending upon dosha –dushya samurchana&#13;
with their adhishatana and vyaktha sthana.. arbuda is the roga involving kapha dosha and mamsa dhatu for&#13;
dosha- dushya sammurchana including apaka karma and takes shelter in any place of the body. According to&#13;
Acharya Kalyana karaka, in Chikitsa there are different types or modalities which are used by intelectual&#13;
vaidyas, to treat a disease, ‘Yena Yena prati visheshaat bhishag jeet rogaha, Sadhyate tat chikitsa parigneyo’ 2&#13;
.According to Acharya Sushrut, in the management of Shopha, Supti, Angavikara, Arbuda, Vidradhi vikara, are&#13;
explained to adopt Chaturvidha chikitsa on the basis of prognosis of diseases and avastha of vyadhi&#13;
Chaturvidha chikitsa are Oushadha-medicines, Shastra-operative procedures, Agni –cauterization and Ksharaapplications&#13;
of alkalies, with help of medicines acts to reduce pain, burning sensation and shodhana but to&#13;
avoid further increase or spreading mechanism shastra karma,agni and kshara are advised. According to&#13;
Acharya Sushruta, the arbuda is defined as, Samurchita vatadi doshas in the body gets sthana samshraya in&#13;
mamsa dhatu and forms localised round shaped ,immobile, less pain, large in size with broad base gradually&#13;
increases in the body .In this paper tried to explain about arbuda depending on doshika predominance arbuda&#13;
causes, types and treatment mentioned in Sushrut Samhita.

<title>Development Of An Objective Parameter For Agni Parikshana With Reference To Jaranakala Of Unit Quantity Of Lajamanda</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/7861</link>
<description>Development Of An Objective Parameter For Agni Parikshana With Reference To Jaranakala Of Unit Quantity Of Lajamanda
Gadgil, Neha Dattatraya; Kulkarni, Akshar Ashok; Rao, Prasanna Narasimha
Introduction - Agni (digestive fire) is the basic principle of life and it is deliberated by Jaranashakti (digestive capacity). Jaranashakti is assessed in terms of time required for Jirnahara Lakshana (symptoms of digestion) from Aharasevana (food intake). These Lakshana are subjective. So, an attempt was made to develop an objective parameter for Agni Parikshana. Our body weight is virtually constant. Apparent increase in weight after Annasevana (food intake) and restoring weight after its Pachana (Mala-Mutra Visarjana) (urination and defecation) is the basic theme behind this study. Laghuta&#13;
(feeling of lightness) with reference to weight was taken into consideration as an objective parameter. Material and method - The study was carried out in 100 apparently healthy individuals, nil by mouth overnight, pre-urinated and defecated. They were weighed and subjected to Lajamanda Sevana (consumption of aqueous decoction of puffed rice) of a unit quantity (250 ml). Their weights were noted again. Apparent increase in weight of average 250 grams was seen. Assessment of weight and Mutravega Nirmiti (urge of passing urine) were done till the weight before Lajamanda Sevana was restored. Time interval was calculated. The time required for restoring weight and time interval between Lajamandasevana and Mutraveganirmiti were&#13;
compared. Result - The Pearson’s correlation test was significant (0.000) for weight restoring time and time interval between Lajamanda sevana and Mutravega nirmiti. The time required for weight restore is 1.161 times more than time interval between Lajamandasevana and Mutraveganirmiti. Conclusion - Laghuta in terms of weight can be considered as an objective parameter for Agni Pariksha.

<title>Exploring The Concept Of Leena(Concealed) Dosha And Application Of Shodhana(Bio-Purification Therapy) In Amavata With Special Reference To Rheumatoid Arthritis</title>
<link>http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/7860</link>
<description>Exploring The Concept Of Leena(Concealed) Dosha And Application Of Shodhana(Bio-Purification Therapy) In Amavata With Special Reference To Rheumatoid Arthritis
Deva, Sachin; Divya, B
Roga(Disease) are Aparisankheyaya(Innumerable) with multiple cause and symptoms. History taking, physical examination and also laboratory investigations plays a key role in diagnosis of disease. Life encompasses the states of health and disease. Ayurveda, the spearhead science deals with these states of life. Various fervent concepts with sturdy bedrocks are laid down for understanding the body. Diagnosis and understanding of diseases is of prime relevance in the eld of medicine. Different principles and methods in unveiling the mechanism of disease have been mentioned in classical texts. One of the most alluring concepts is Leenadosha(Concealed) in the modulation of a disease. Technically Leena term suggests to Conceal/Attach or even Merge. Here the Doshas will be attached or concealed to the Dhatus. So we can frame the quality of Leena dosha as Ekadeshasthita/Anutva and also Dhatvantaragata(Concealed to dhatus). Ama(Toxins from undigested food) is considered as the basic cause for all the disease. The person who is liable to Mandagni(Decreased digestive fire) undergoes Viruddahara then Amotpatti is certain. Sanchara(Movement) of Ama due to multiple etiology causes Sthanasamshraya(Confinement) especially in Asti(Bones) and Sandhis(Joints) causes Shoola(Pain) in same areas. Usually this diseases is compared to Rheumatoid group of disorders especially Rheumatoid arthritis were remission and exacerbation of symptoms especially pain is most common associated with swelling, redness etc symptoms. Leena dosha plays a pivotal role in this pattern of symptoms in RA. Shodhana(Bio-Publication) procedure helps in expelling out the excessively vitiated Doshas. Classiscs clearly mentioned that Leena dosha cant be eliminated through Shodhana without prior Deepana &amp; Pachana(Stomacic &amp; digestive),Snehana(Oleation) and Swedana(Sudation) i,e bringing back the vitiated Doshas from Shaka(Extremities) to Kosta(Abdomen). So Saama Dosha adhered or concealed in diseases are understood as in Leena state and it can be removed from the body only by proper purificatory theraphies.
